CALL FOR ENTRIES 2025
The Youth Climate Report has officially opened its call for video submissions for its 2025 season. Young filmmakers throughout the world aged 18 to 35 (or younger if supervised by an adult 18 years of age or older) are invited to produce a three- to five-minute documentary film report on a climate-related topic where they live. Each year, the Youth Climate Report, in collaboration with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, announces the themes for that year’s COP conference. COP30 will be taking place in Belém, Brazil, the “Gateway to the Amazon”, and here are this year’s themes:
- Biodiversity and Indigenous rights (Amazon): The Amazon is central to global climate resilience, and COP30 will focus on protecting biodiversity and the rights of Indigenous peoples.
- Equity: COP30 will include women, Indigenous communities, and low-income nations in decision-making processes.
- Accountability: COP30 will ensure that pledges made under the Green Climate Fund benefit vulnerable populations.
- Public-private collaboration (Agriculture): COP30 will build on the success of AIM for Climate to address innovation gaps.
- Bioeconomy: The bioeconomy plays a significant role in Brazil’s climate target. COP30 will focus on a “sociobioeconomy” that includes Indigenous peoples, rubber tappers, and other groups that depend on nature.
- Adaptation: COP30 will develop a shared vision for adaptation, grounded in collective decision-making and international cooperation.
